Norwegian industrial company Bjørdal has contracted to deliver a complete system for processing, logistics and freezing of fish on board the new vessel for fishing company Østerfjord.
The combination seine netter/longliner is scheduled to be delivered by the Tersan shipyard in the second quarter of 2021 and will be the largest such combination vessel. The vessel is designed by Marin Teknikk and the processing deck has been developed in co-operation with the designer and the owner.
The requirement was for both fillet and H&G production on board, with catches frozen at sea and Bjørdal is also supplying systems for handling offal and factory offcuts.
The installation will include two automated freezers and a fully automated freezer hotel, plus packing and palletising of production, in addition to control and monitoring systems. As part of the logistics arrangements, an elevator takes frozen cartons from the factory deck to the refrigerated fishroom, and this is used in reverse for discharging catches.
Bjørdal will also deliver systems for fish handling in the reception areas.
CEO Bjørn Meek is proud that Bjørdal has been chosen to deliver this project and looks forward to further co-operation with shipowner, ship designer and yard.
“A delivery to Østerfjord is a great honour and pleasure for Bjørdal,” he said.
“We look forward to the further co-operation with the shipowner where our quality products and state of the art solutions for fish-processing will be delivered.”
