The Dutch dredging and heavy lift company, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has published a video of the Dublin Port Capital Dredging operations carried out recently under the Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project.
The contractor performed the project in Dublin Port by operating the trailer suction hopper dredger FREEWAY.
The Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project involves the creation/rehabilitation of 3 kilometers of quay walls, new berthing facilities and the capital dredging scheme. During the capital dredging, Boskalis successfully removed existing accumulated sediments in order to create a new/expanded navigational channel within Dublin Bay with a ruling depth of -10m CD.
Deepening of the channel will offer significant benefits to Dublin Port by increasing infrastructure capacity, navigational safety and draft accommodation, and expand tidal access.
