J. Lauritzen and Clipper, the two Danish shipping mammoths, have done a rare deal in their favorite sector.
J. Lauritzen is a shipping company with worldwide operations and a leading supplier of ocean transport solutions. The company operates more than 150 vessels including short-term charters.
Clipper is an industry leader in dry-bulk with a modern fleet of approximately 100 handysize and supramax vessels, transporting a wide range of cargo from dry bulk to break bulk.
Mads Peter Zacho, President & CEO of J. Lauritzen, has offloaded three 9-year-old, 33,000 dwt bulkers, the Sentosa Bulker, Emilie Bulker and Orchard Bulker, according to brokers sources. No price is attached to the deal, though, vessels value indicates a price of $8.18m per ship.
J. Lauritzen has been selling ships lately while the new owner of the ships, Peter Norborg, CEO Clipper Group, has not added ships in years as it fought financially tough times.
